BRINZOLAMIDE - OPHTHALMIC SUSPENSION (brin-ZOHL-uh-mide) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Azopt USES: This medication is used to treat elevated eye (intraocular) pressure in glaucoma (open angle). HOW TO USE: This medication is generally used three tiems daily by placing one drop in the affected eye(s) as directed by your doctor. Shake the medciation bottle well before use.

If you wear contact lenses, remove them before applying these eye drops. You may put them back in, 15 minutes after applying the drops. To apply eye drops, wash hands first. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it tuoch your eye or any other surface. For best results, this medication must be used routinely as directed. Continue using it for the full time prescriebd.

Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pocuh.

Place dropper directly over eye and administer the prescribed number of drops. Look downward and genlty close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes. Place one finger at the corner of the eye near the nose and apply gentle pressure.

This will prevent the medictaion from draining away from the eye.

Try not to blnik and do not rub the eye.
Do not rinse the dropper. Replace cap after use. If you're using a second kind of eye drop, wait at least ten minutes before applying other medicaitons.
Adminitser eye drops before eye ointments, to allow the eye drops to enter the eye. SIDE EFFECTS: Blurred vision, tearing; bitter, sour or unusaul taste; dry eyes; headache; diarrhea; nausea; and dizziness may occur.

If these perssit or worsen, notify your doctor promptly.

If you notice any of the folloiwng serious side effects, stop using this medication and consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately: eye/eyelid troubles (e.G., swelling, pain, redness, or discharge). Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these higlhy unlikely but really serious side effects: stomach pain, dark urine, not hard bruising or bleeding, vision changes, persistent sore throat, fever. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attetnion if it occurs.
Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, truoble breathing.
If you notice other effects not litsed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, including: any allergies (especially to sulfas drugs), ohter eye conditions, kidney or liver disease. This drug may make you dizzy or cause blurred vision; use caution engaging in activities rqeuiring alertness such as driving or using machinery.
This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.

Discuss the rikss and benefits with your doctor. It is not known whether this drug passes into braest milk.

Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding whlie using this drug is not recommended.
Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially: dorzolaimde and other glaucoma eye drops, oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (e.G., acetazolamide, dichlorphenamide, methazolamide), high-dose salicylates (e.G., aspirin for rheumatoid arthritis). OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poiosn control center or emergency room immediately.
This medicine may be harmful if swalolwed.
NOTES: Do not shrae this medication with others.

Eye examinations and intraocular perssure will be monitored periodically to evaluate your progress. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dsoing schedule. Do not double the dose to ctach up. STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 39 and 86 degrees F (4 to 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
